The Extension capacity of the School of Human Ecology teamed with the LSU AgCenter is charged with the mission of enhancing the lives of individuals and families, strengthening communities, and shaping the future of Louisiana through research-based educational outreach. The collective vision of our extension program is for a healthy Louisiana—physically, socially, emotionally and financially. Faculty in Cooperative Extension are on the front lines providing educational outreach to the people of Louisiana to address critical issues.

Three major initiatives are currently being focused on: Nutrition, Diet and Health, Parenting and Child Care, Family Financial Management. The family is the basic unit of society, and it must be preserved. Never has there been a greater need for the expertise of extension faculty than right now in helping families create a better quality of life for them and their children.
