Carol O'Neil, Ann Peltier Professor of Dietetics in the School of Human Ecology and a TIAA–CREF Service– Learning Fellow, has been named the Louisiana 2007 Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for her influence on teaching and her outstanding commitment to undergraduate students.

Loren Marks named a "Rainmaker" for LSU. In the university context, Rainmakers are those who are nationally and internationally recognized for innovative research and creative scholarship, who compete for external funding at the highest levels and who attract and mentor exceptional graduate students.

The President of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry awarded Professor Richard Tulley (Human Nutrition and Food) a Presidential Citation, in appreciation for service to the Southeast Section and Nutrition Division of AACC on the 25th day of July 2008
